Very interesting to finally get an inside perspective about the Ak's demise - not to mention all of the history on display. I'm very glad to hear that there is no animosity between them. Also quite glad to hear that David is open to returning to the band one day and is still devoted to the project. I would love for Akercocke to find itself whole once again when the members feel the time is right.

In the meantime, I'm pleased that the band's members have been active elsewhere. I was as sad to see For The Blind go and I was Akercocke. That project, though it never went beyond demos, was absolutely stunning. It made me a fan of Peter Benjamin a long time ago. But Voices - which very quickly developed into a force to be reckoned with - is carrying those torches now. And I'm looking forward to hearing the Antichrist Imperium material, and getting a glimpse of those lost tunes.

Great interview. I was the same age when I first heard Akercocke, and the band had a huge impact on me as well. I hope Ak will start jamming again. Voices is a great band though, and look forward to new music from them too.

Excellent news, excited to see where they go with their sound. The S/T was badass, but it's been a few years since then. What will they bring to the table this time around? Will be exciting to see it come together and to hear the result--even if the "late 2016" projected release date feels like fucking forever from now.

it appears that the band agreed to have John release the material. Thats why he paid for artwork. They also had to have sent him some form of material for him to complete the project. I wouldn't be so quick to jump to the conclusion of John/Pathos stealing anything. I don't have all the information so I wont make any judgments on this just yet, but as someone that understands entertainment and contract law, and someone that is in a band and owns a label it looks like the band is misunderstanding the situation they entered into.

this is a shitty situation, Pathos is a total dogshit organization, stealing hardwork from bands that were not even under contract is low and is no less than stealing, i hope this moves quick for the band and Dwyer pays what he owes and more! its never cool to hear anything like this happening to any musician , its hard enough to make any money nevermind getting taking advantage of if not all out robbed by a fraudulent promotion company if u can even call it that..

It makes me fucking angry, myself and my guitarist were both contacted and put all the critical questions to Mr Ortizzle but were only met with these vague and slightly reverse psychological rebuttals. I simply ask for a guarantee before giving away details and none was provided. Not to mention I am in Australia and can't hunt down and kick the fuck out of these guys if my $500 were to be stolen. Sad to see people are falling for it as "too good to be true" as they are that desperate for funds. In my band we all have small sources of income and make do perfectly fine. The mentality you need money to get places is bullshit. Be a good band, work hard, net work and sometimes take risks. That's the way, and my own personal mantra is don't suck dicks to get anywhere.

Thank you for calling them out! Your commentary on their posts as well as the other folks are spot on. I'm not in any bands or in the industry but I have many friends that are and I go to shows regularly. The person that started this has no idea that in the scene, we usually look out for one another and help each other out. I would dislike to see a friend fall for this but I'm pretty sure they know better. Thanks again!
